palm run.

This study explores the relationship between a modified sports car and its surroundings.

Rather than focusing purely on speed, the sketch examines how palm trees and buildings combine to create a sense of place with such simplicity.

Each drawing isolates a different part of the composition, allowing details to be refined individually before they come together in the finished illustration.

" The surroundings matter

as much as the subject."

02. Breakdown of Details

Every finished illustration is built through a series of focused studies. Rather than refining the entire drawing at once, each sketch explores a single element of composition, movement or texture before contributing to the final artwork.

Exploring proportion, simplified aerodynamics and an aggressive front-facing stance before establishing the

final illustration.

Architectural studies balancing layered stonework, perspective and surrounding detail to frame the composition.

Creating a recognisable modified sports car in sketched form had it's difficulties, but I believe it became a good centre piece for the piece.

Exploring different palm tree proportions and leaf structures helped create a natural balance without distracting from the car itself.

Different building proportions and shading techniques were explored to add depth without overpowering the illustration.

03. Final Artwork

Created digitally using the original sketchbook study as a foundation, while preserving the expressive hand-drawn character.

04. On The Garment

Every garment carries the finished illustration exactly as it was intended,

celebrating the original hand-drawn artwork rather than concealing it.

05. Artist's Notes

" I wanted the location to be recognisable before the car was. "

Palm Run was more about bringing a seaside city vibe to monochrome sketching. My aim with the piece was to create something more about the harmony of the car and the surroundings, rather than my previous work of the car attacking it's surroundings. I believe I accomplished that, both objects feel as one and I hope the person viewing the piece can feel the same.
